[B] The following conclusions are supported by fair evidence:
In individuals with acute lung injury, clinical trials that compared initial trophic enteral feeding (~10 mL/hour) to feeding goal rate over several days did not demonstrate a benefit on clinical outcomes (e.g. ventilator-free days, infectious complications, 60-day mortality). Trials did note that trophic feeding was associated with less gastrointestinal intolerance.
