[B] The following conclusions are supported by fair evidence:

Serological testing; IgA antihuman tissue transglutaminase (TTG), IgA endomysial antibody immunofluorescence (EMA) and IgG Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP); is the first step in diagnosing a person (adult or child over five years of age) with clinical symptoms of celiac disease.


Biopsies of the proximal small bowel (duodenal) are the gold standard for diagnosing celiac disease.
