There is an increasing awareness of evidence supporting a relationship between food and cooking skills and diet quality. Dietary Guidelines from around the world support diets based on vegetables, fruit, lean meats, fish and legumes and whole grains that are associated with better health. Conversely diets high in pre-prepared, processed foods that are high in fat, sodium and energy are associated with obesity and related illnesses.
