[A] The following conclusions are supported by good evidence:
Many fruit, vegetables, tree nuts, legumes and seeds can cause pollen-food syndrome (PFS) due to the high homology between plant food allergens. The structure of the dominant Birch pollen allergen Bet v 1 is very similar to that found in pathogenesis-related 10 (PR-10) plant food allergens such as apple, cherry, hazelnut and peanut. Some PFS may also involve cross-reactions between Bet v 2, a profilin, and other profilins ubiquitous
