Does the assessment of the nutritional adequacy of long-term care (LTC) menus using computer-assisted nutrient analysis versus the comparison of menu servings to the recommended servings in Canada’s Food Guide (CFG) provide a better assessment of whether Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI) recommendations for the elderly resident population are being met?
Role: Reviewer
In diet counselling with individuals, is there evidence that the use of a computerized nutrient analysis/assessment program to calculate nutrient intake and compare dietary intake to recommended nutrient values, improves client intake reporting and motivation to make diet changes when compared to traditional counselling and manual recording methods (e.g. interviewer-collected diet history, diet record books, comparison to checklists, food groups)?
