[B] The following conclusions are supported by fair evidence:
Verbal prompts and offering residents their preferred beverages are effective ways to increase between meal fluid intake, to rehydrate the institutionalized elderly and to improve quality of life.

Hypodermoclysis, the subcutaneous infusion of fluids, is a useful and easy technique suitable for mildly to moderately dehydrated elderly individuals for whom venous access can be difficult.
