Importance of Topic to Practice
Consumers today are routinely exposed to a wide variety of media sources. It is important for both consumers and health care professionals to be media literate because of the potential harmful effects of media exposure (both overt and covert) on health behaviours and overall health. In particular, there are concerns about how children are affected by media exposure, especially food advertisements. Dietitians can help by promoting media literacy in their
