Constipation during cancer treatment can be caused by a number of factors (1,2). The primary cause of constipation in cancer patients receiving treatment is medication-induced constipation, mainly as a result of opioids used for pain management. Other medications, such as some chemotherapy agents (3), anticholinergic and antiemetic medications can also induce constipation. Some chemotherapy drugs cause constipation through an autonomic neuropathy; opioids cause
