While further research needs to be conducted on the long-term side-effects of stimulant medications, adequacy of food intake and growth (height and weight) should be regularly monitored in children who take stimulant medication to ensure that the child is following expected growth rates.
Similarly, adults receiving long-term stimulant medication should be monitored for nutrition-related side-effects and subsequent weight loss. Indicators that are assessed during the initial
