Importance of Topic to Practice

Since 1943 the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) have been recognized as the accepted source in nutrient allowances for healthy people. The RDAs have been renamed Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) and have been updated by the Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine, in partnership with Health Canada. They are a key resource for dietitians in all areas of practice.
