[A] The following conclusions are supported by good evidence:
The results of a number of meta-analyses provide evidence that select probiotics are effective in the prevention of antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD). Specifically, there is good evidence to support the use of Lactobacillus rhamnosus (L. rhamnosus) and Saccharomyces boulardii (S. boulardii) to prevent AAD in adults and Lactobacillus GG (LGG), Lactobacillus sporogens (L. sporogens) or S. boulardii to prevent AAD in children.
