Disease EtiologyOrthorexia nervosa (ON) was first described in 1997 by an alternative medicine practitioner as the pathological obsession with eating biologically pure and healthy food (1). The term is derived from the Greek word ortho, meaning “straight, correct, and true” and orexis, meaning “appetite” (2). Often, ON originates from an individual’s innocent desire to overcome illness or improve health (1,3). However, with time, the individual may feel a sense of superiority over those
