Importance of Topic to Practice
Food and nutrition labelling is an important policy tool by which food and nutrition information is communicated to consumers. As a common source of food and nutrition information, dietitians should be knowledgeable about the different types of labels that exist, how to read them, the barriers faced by consumers in using them and areas of continuing debate. Dietitians should be able to answer consumer questions and to contribute to policy discussions
