Importance of the Topic to Practice
While clinical research of the health benefits of mangosteen juice is lacking; mangosteen fruit, rind, and bark contain xanthones and other polyphenolic compounds, which have been shown in in vitro and in vivo studies to have antioxidant activity. 
 
Topic Overview
Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) is a tropical fruit grown in Southeast Asia (1). It has a hard, dark purple outer rind and a white soft inner flesh. It is not related to the mango fruit.
