[C] The following conclusions are supported by limited evidence or expert opinion:
Observational data suggests that the energy and protein requirements of women carrying multiple fetuses are higher than singleton pregnancies based on increased resting energy expenditure and increases in maternal tissues. No controlled trials have examined the effects of specific higher calorie and protein diets on pregnancy outcomes in women carrying multiple fetuses.
Current recommendations are to provide
