Goals include:
- promote healthy growth
- maintain breastfeeding as the mode of feeding
- ensure adequacy of maternal diet to sustain breastfeeding
- minimize unwarranted nutrition feeding interventions in the maternal diet and in infant formula
- emphasize to parents that infant colic is likely to disappear by three to four months.
