Failure to thrive (FTT) is a term used to describe infants and children who fail to grow and develop at a normal rate compared to other infants and children of similar age and sex (1,2). It is also a term for protein-energy malnutrition (3). Recently, the term "growth faltering" is used to avoid the negative association with the word "failure".
