Bio:Monica is a registered dietitian with over 25 years of experience in clinical nutrition and education. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of British Columbia and completed a dietetic internship from Vancouver General Hospital. She also completed a Master of Science degree from Syracuse University. Her thesis was “Iron status in Cystic Fibrosis”. She worked primarily as a clinical dietitian at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in the Cystic Fibrosis clinic as well as other pediatric clinics and programs. As professional practice leader and manager, she was involved in developing a community-based pediatric nutrition service as well as other projects and educational activities. She also has experience with dietetic internship coordination and education, including teaching medical students, dietetic interns and nursing students. Monica’s current role is with Women’s Health Resource Centre and involves the provision of nutrition services to women and to health professionals on health promotion and disease prevention for women. A key activity is teaching nutrition workshops to women with barriers to accessing health care.
